Thing 2: Photo Fun!

What a great assignment this week.  I was very familiar with a number of the suggested sites listed like Flickr, Shutterfly, Facebook (though I don't have a page) and Pinterest but I had never heard of some of the others. I plan to further investigate Panoramio, History Pin and What Was There and I love, love, love the idea of holding a "Day in the Life" event Perhaps I will take on that project in the spring.

I am very familiar with Instagram, thanks to my children.  They are the ones who first introduced me to the site.  I find that I view Instagram at least one time daily and use it as a way to keep in touch with my sisters who all live out of town.  We post pictures and inspirational quotes and use it as a way to update one another on our daily lives.

I do not have many followers, nor do I actively solicit followers, however, I was quite excited to see that Fabian Lentsch, an Austrian Professional Free Skier, liked one of my posts!

It was a photo I had taken last weekend while skiing in Vermont.  The view was fabulous and the powder made for sensational skiing.  I guess my fourteen year old son was impressed enough that he started following me after he heard a pro skier liked my page!

Thing 1: Blogging

What a fabulous opportunity for me to participate in this professional development opportunity offered by WSWHE SLS.  I am Katrina Williams, the Elementary School Librarian in the Greenwich Central School District.  It is hard for me to believe that this fall I started my 18th year here as Librarian!  Where did the time go??  At any rate, this middle aged dog is ready to learn a few new tricks!
By participating in this online course, I am hoping to keep up to date on the latest and greatest in technology and how I can use it with my students.  I am sure that I will find many useful applications that will not only enrich my knowledge but will enhance my students' learning enrichment.  Thanks Polly for providing this wonderful program.
